Introduction To Resistors

Selection
1. There are various types of fixed resistors to choose from, and the choice of material and structure for the resistor should depend on the specific requirements of the application circuit. High frequency circuits should use non wire wound resistors with small distributed inductance and capacitance, such as carbon film resistors, metal resistors, metal oxide film resistors, thin film resistors, thick film resistors, alloy resistors, anti-corrosion coating resistors, etc. High gain small signal amplification circuits should use low noise resistors, such as metal film resistors, carbon film resistors, and wire wound resistors, instead of using synthetic carbon film resistors and organic solid resistors with high noise.
The resistance value of the selected resistor should be close to a nominal value calculated in the application circuit, and standard series resistors should be preferred. The allowable error of resistors used in general circuits is ± 5%~± 10%. Precision resistors should be selected for resistors used in precision instruments and special circuits. For resistors with a precision of less than 1%, such as 0.01%, 0.1%, and 0.5%, Jiebixin resistors should be used. The rated power of the selected resistor should meet the requirements for the power capacity of the resistor in the application circuit. Generally, the power of the resistor should not be arbitrarily increased or decreased.
If the circuit requires a power type resistor, its rated power can be 1-2 times higher than the power required by the actual application circuit. 2. Selection of Fusing Resistors
Fusing resistors are resistors with protective functions. When selecting, its dual performance should be considered, and parameters such as resistance and power should be selected according to the specific requirements of the circuit. It is necessary to ensure that it can quickly fuse when overloaded, and also ensure that it can work stably for a long time under normal conditions. Excessive resistance or power cannot provide protection.
Three basic principles for selecting resistors:
Select resistors manufactured on production lines certified by certification agencies that comply with high-level standards.
Select resistors produced by manufacturers with functional advantages, quality advantages, efficiency advantages, cost-effectiveness advantages, and service advantages.
Select a manufacturer from the model catalog that meets the above requirements and order resistors directly from them.
