What Is A Capacitor?

A capacitor is a circuit component that contains an insulating medium between two metal plates. Its unit is Farad and the symbol is F. Capacitors use the electric field between two conductors to store energy, and the charges carried by the two conductors are of equal magnitude, but the symbols are opposite.
A capacitor consists of two electrodes, which store equal amounts of charge and have opposite symbols. The electrode itself is a conductor, and the two electrodes are separated by an insulating metal called Dielectric. This type of metal sheet usually uses aluminum sheet or aluminum foil, and if aluminum oxide is used as the medium, it is an electrolytic capacitor. The charge will be stored on the surface of the electrode, near the dielectric material. Due to the equal size and opposite sign of the charges stored in the two electrodes, the capacitor remains electrically neutral at all times.
